Asia Peace and Unity Run flagged off from Mysore

Mysore, May 19 (UNI) The Xerox Asia Peace and Unity Run, organised as a prelude to the Asian Grand Prix 2006 to be held in Bangalore on May 22, was flagged off from the city today.

Deputy Commissioner S Selvakumar flagged off the relay run in front of the famous Mysore Palace with international athlete and torch bearer Somasekhar leading a contingent of about 125 runners of national and international repute.

The relay torch light run would reach Mayo Hall in Bangalore on May 21. It would be taken to Sree Kanteerava Stadium by sports personalities like Ashwini Nachappa, Reeth Abraham and S D Easan.

The relay team would stop at Maddur today and Ramanagaram tomorrow before reaching Bangalore.
