Arti Singh Rao finishes 21st in skeet

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Arti Singh Rao's score of 67 saw her finishing a poor 21st in women's Skeet event at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt.

Arti shot a series of 22,22 and 23 to total 67, according to information received here today.

In the men's sections, the Indian trio of Baba Bedi (23, 24), Amit Sanghi (24, 23) and Amardeep Singh Rai (24,23) totalled 47 each on day one of Skeet Qualifications. There are three more rounds of 25 left after which the top six shooters will qualify for the finals.

Meanwhile, the Gold in women's Skeet went to Danka Bartekova of Slovakia with a score of 96 (72+24) who also bagged an Olympic Quota place in the process.

The silver was decided in a shoot-off between Christine Brinker from Germany, Chiara Cainero from Italy and Andri Eleftheriou from Cyprus who were all tied at 95 after the finals.

After Cainero and Eleftheriou both missed one target in their first attempt, the silver went to Christine Brinker.

Cainero won the bronze by outdoing Eleftheriou in the following shoot-off with a two to one verdict.

Olympic gold medallist Zemfira Meftakhetdinova of Azerbaijan cut a sorry figure in the event. With 74 targets, she equalled the World Record but in the finals she lost her focus and missed eight targets to finally finish at the sixth place.
