Alliance between Fox Mandal and Little
Mumbai, May 19 (UNI) Fox Mandal (FM) and Litle Co, two of India's oldest and most renowned firms, have announced their, merger to establish the largest and oldest full service law firm in India under the brand name of Fox Mandal Litle (FML).
The coming together of two of the country's oldest law firm set forth the beginning of larger law firm in India in line with international law firms where under the same roof a client gets a wide range of services.
Speaking on the occasion, Som Mandal said,'' World wide law firms have 3000 to 4000 lawyers in one firm. We still have a long way to go. Also usually people use to come to lawyers at the last minute but today things have changed. They come in the beginning in order to take precautions.'' The economic liberalisation coupled with inflow of foreign direct investment into India has seen a huge change in the service sector already and with the invent of large law firm such as Fox Mandal Little (FML) it is the beginning of the preparation of the Indian law firms to grow bigger and position themselves for entry of the foreign law firms in India which is inevitable in the near future.
FML will have over 250 lawyers and fee earners and over 150 support staff making it the largest law firm in India and amongst the top 20 law firm in Asia. Due to the current restriction on 20 partners in a partnership, FML has a unique system in place and has adopted what many of the international law firm or accounting firm does to create multiple partnerships depending on the location.
The alliance will not only enable FML to capitalise on the synergies inherent in the two partnerships of Little Co and FM but will also offer to the existing and prospective clients of FML the benefits created by the economies of scale and by unrivalled nationwide network offices unmatched by any law firm in India.
As a result of this alliance, the work areas and practice groups of FML will be able to provide improved and strengthened assistance to the client base with respect to a diverse range of legal issues relating to Admiraty and Maritime Law , anti trust and trade regulation, arbitration and dispute resolution, anti-dumping, aviation , banking , finance and insurance services, corporate and commercial, consumer and product liability, mergers and aquisitions, labour matters along with litigation, just to name a few.
FML will continue with its initiative of conducting training programmes for granting training to visiting foreign lawyers and sending younger lawyers from the firm for training to like minded international law firms.
FML's list of corporate clients include many of India's largest listed companies operating in steel, banking, investment, communications, entertainment, resource and service industries.
Further more the firm serves private individuals who need high quality professional advice besides governmental bodies.
