AIADMK flays delay in Pondy Ministry formation
Pondicherry, May 19 (UNI) AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan today took strong exception to the 'inordinate' delay in the formation of a full-fledged Ministry in the Union Territory.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan said even as Chief Ministers and Ministers were sworn-in in states which went to polls along with Pondicherry, the process had suffered in the Union Territory with Mr N Rangasamy alone taking oath of office as Chief Minister.
The Ministry formation was hampered due to greed for power and groupism in the Congress, the AIADMK MLA alleged.
He said as the Congress had only ten members in the Assembly, it is certain every one will get a post. Despite this, it was not able to form a Ministry, making a mockery of democracy.
Mr Anbazhagan also requested Lt Governor M M Lakhera to convene the Assembly soon to enable the MLAs to take oath.
On the issue of the government bearing 100 per cent fee for medical and engineering students selected by the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac), Mr Anbazhagan said according to a Supreme Court order, the government could not insist on the admission of such students to private institutions.
As such there cannot be Centac-selected students in such colleges.
