ABB India signs MoU with IIT, Delhi
Bangalore, May 19: ABB India has signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD), further strengthening its relations in Research and Development in power and automation technologies and facilitating increased interaction between industry and academia.
As part of the MoU, ABB would establish a 'Professorial Chair' to facilitate technology development and knowledge sharing between ABB and IITD through specific development projects and research in power and automation, a company release here said today.
In a related initiative, ABB would recognise students of exceptional talent in the field of electrical engineering by offering scholarships to under-graduate and post-graduate students.
These scholarships would be based on merit and aptitude to pursue studies and research in the relevant subjects. The 'ABB Scholars' would also have the opportunity to interact with the company on a regular basis as well as take up project assignments and summer internships. The company was also interacting with IITD on provision of state-of-the-art lab facilities.

This partnership is part of ABB's constant commitment to technology and innovation and our ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships with academia,'' the release said, quoting Mr Ravi Uppal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, ABB India.
''Specific technology focus on power systems and power electronics will also help address some of India's specific challenges in a critical and fast developing sector,'' he added.
