50 huts gutted in fire

Chennai, May 19 (UNI) Over 50 huts were gutted in a fire at two areas at Triplicane in the city today.

Fire tenders from different parts of the city rushed to the spot and put out the fire after an hour long fight.

Fire service sources said the reason for the fire was not known yet. While there was no fatality, loss was estimated at Rs one lakh.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board Minister Periyakaruppan and others visited the mishap site and consoled the affected people. The Minister ordered speedy relief measures.
