Wockhardt hospital to set up ICC units in city

Bangalore, May 18 (UNI) Wockhardt Hospital, one of the leading healthcare facility providers in the country, will create a network of Intensive Coronary Care Units (ICCUs) at strategic locations within the city to save lives in time, Hospital Chief Executive Officer Vishal Bali said today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said the main objective was to ensure that precious lives were saved by increasing the accessibility to a higher number of heart attack patients so that they could receive treatment in a shorter span of time.

These ICCU services, backed by a fleet of cardiac ambulance services, at various locations were already under implementation, he said, adding that a strengthened team of cardiologists would be able to provide expertise across the entire geographical region of the city.

He said the hospital would be opening its new 400-bed hospital, the largest healthcare facility in the country, in June. In a strategic move to strengthen its position as the leading provider of cardiac care across the country, the hospital had enlisted a full time cardiac team of 20 cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, operating exclusively in two hospitals in the city.

The two hospitals would support more than 4,000 heart surgeries and 10,000 Coronary Angiography and Angioplasty procedures a year which would establish the Group as the leading provider of heart treatment.

He said the Group would be investing more than Rs 500 crore for its new hospitals in places like Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and six other centres across the country.

He informed that the hospital, with the new team's cooperation, would set up a national referral centre for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery here.
