Warmth lacking in Indo-Pak ties : Fazlur Rahman
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Hardline Pakistani opposition leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said ''Warmth'' is lacking in Indo-Pak relations and the two countries should adopt a ''pragmatic approach'' to address all outstanding issues between them.
''There is absence of warmth in the bilateral relations and my mission is to give required impetus to the peace process so that two countries move forward towards resolution of their bilateral disputes, including Kashmir,'' the General Secretary of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal(MMA) said here last night.
''Goli kay bajai boli say maslay hul karney hai (We have to resolve the issues through talks not by the gun),'' he said at a reception here in his honour.
Strongly condemning terrorism ''in all its forms and manifestions,'' the Maulana said it has no place in Islam or any other religion. ''No Muslim can support terrorism, which is an unpardonable act.'' ''But there should not be any double standards on this issue.
Some countries have waged a war against others in the name of terrorism, countries were attacked for allegedly sheltering terrorists,'' he added.
''I have come here in search of peace. Both India and Pakistan spend billion of dollars on defence. This money could be utilised for the welfare of poor and underprivileged in the region,'' he observed.
