Suryakiran Aerobatic team to celebrate 10th anniversary

Bangalore, May 18 (UNI) The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force is all set to celebrate its tenth anniversary at its home base Air Force Station at Bidar in Karnataka.

The team flew its first six aircraft formation sortie on May 27, 1996 at the Air Force Station in Bidar. It had evolved since that humble beginning to become one of the most renowned nine aircraft aerobatic teams in the world.

As the youngest nine aircraft formation aerobatic team in the world, Suryakiran completed a decade of enthralling spectators across the country and abroad. To mark this important milestone in its history, SKAT would carryout a special display in Bidar tomorrow, an official release here said today.

Air Marshal B N Gokhale, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Training Command would be the chief guest at the function. He would be flying with the team during the special aerobatic display.

During his stay in Bidar, the AOC-in-C would also be inspecting the ongoing work services being undertaken to induct the HAWK AJT.
