PGC directs Education dept to publicise reserved seats in schools

Written by: Staff

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Public Grievance Commission has directed the Education department to publicise its policy on giving admission to students of the weaker sections in Delhi schools.

This, the Commission said, would help people know that the department was ensuring that 20 per cent seats meant for weaker sections were filled on the proportion of the total number of general category students admitted at agiven time.

It would also help the weaken section applicants know the procedures and policies on applying for the reserved seats, the Commission added.

The Education department, in reply to an appeal under the 'Right to Information Act 2001', had replied that the quota seats were filled between April and July and in proportion to the total number of 'general' students admitted.
