Navhind Times-GFA awards for the best Goan footballers on May 23
Panaji, May 18; The first Navhind Times-GFA (Goa Football Association) awards would be presented to 15 best Goan players at the Awards Nite to be held at a resort in South Goa on May 23.
Disclosing this to media persons here today, the GFA's Secretary Savio Messias said a three member committee of judges have been constituted for the purpose and the 170 odd football clubs have been asked to submit their nominations to the association.
Stating that this would become an annual feature, Mr Messias said cash awards might be introduced in future award nites, to further encourage the players.
The awards, carrying a trophy and a citation this time, would be presented by chief minister Pratapsingh Rane. The awardees, included juniors and women.
The categories include the best organiser (only for GFA tournaments), outstanding woman footballer, most promising woman footballer, best venue (other than Fatorda and Duller) and most loved player, besides the most valuable player, best coach, most promising coach, team of the year, most promising player, best goalkeeper, midfielder, striker and the best manager.
Sharmila Diaz and her band besides other popular artistes including TV star and mimicry artist Vikram Sathe would entertain the participants including the audiences.
