Mulayam assures 16 hrs power to villages by Sept
Lucknow, May 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today announced 16 hrs power supply to villages by September, even as his government come under attack from the Opposition over power woes.
Addressing the state legislative assembly -- while making a reply on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, Mr Yadav said while UP power situation was indeed dismal, things would start inproving shortly.
''From September 1, villages will get power supply for 16 hrs a day as per the promise made by my government, when it took over on August 29, 2003,.'' he said.
He informed that tomorrow, he alongwith senior officials would meet officials of the union power ministery in Delhi to discuss the power situation.
The Samajwadi Party supremo also invited senior leaders of BJP, BSP and Congress to join him for the meeting, as it would only help the common man in UP.
