Lalu to inaugurate Kanpur-Farukhabad broad gauge line tomorrow
Kanpur, May 18 (UNI) Railway Minister Laloo Prasad will inaugurate a broad gauge rail line between Kanpur and Farukhabad under North Eastern Railway at Anwarganj ralway station tomorrow.
Union Minister of State for Home and local MP, Sriprakash Jaiswal will preside over the function.
The Centre had sanctioned the Kanpur-Farukhabad-Kasganj-Mathura broad gauge conversion project with a capital investment of Rs 658.11 crores. In the first phase, conversion work for 139.22 km between Kanpur and Farukhabad was completed on January 31 with a capital investment of Rs 178 crores.
Initially, four pairs of passenger trains and two pairs of express trains would run on the route from tomorrow. Goods train were already running on the route with effect from February 2, last, a NER release said here tonight.
