Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation (HDC) has earned a revenue of Rs 8 crore during the last fiscal as a result of sustained efforts and employee friendly policies of the state government, an official spokesman said today.
The Wool and Woolen Design Development Centre, set up under Prime Minister's special economic package, has improved and developed the local tweed and woollen production to meet huge domestic and export market demands in apparel segment, he added.
The centre has facilities for testing fabrics, fibers and yarns.
The spokesman said the HDC has given employment to about 200 weavers of the Valley and expanded its sales network by opening new sale centres in Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow and Jaipur.
Eighty handlooms with latest techniques involved in weaving were operational at the centre, he added.
