Haryana Bijli Nigam to imrpove power supply in rural areas
Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has decided to bifurcate 106 feeders having more load and length into 211 small feeders for strengthening the power supply in rural areas of the state.
This step of the Nigam would help in reducing the brake down of the feeders and increase the voltage of power supply of the sub stations, a department spokesman said today.
''During the last one year, 54 feeders of 11 KV capacity were bifurcated into 143 small feeders which had reduced the cases of breakdown to a great extent,'' he said.
The spokesman said that the Nigam was preparing such plans so as to ensure separate power supply to both domestic and non-domestic, as well as tubewell power consumers. He said that only seven to eight hours power supply to tubewell connections was needed for the farmers to get sufficient water for irrigation whereas domestic and non-domestic consumers needed power supply for longer periods.
While giving details about rapidily increasing demand of the electricity in the state, he said that demand for electricity had been increased about 15 per cent during last one year.
During the last one year, 9843 distribution transformers were installed and 1293 km long 11 KV lines and 20 km long new low tension lines were laid down.
