Female Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan-CBC

OTTAWA, May 17 (Reuters) A female captain in the Canadian armed forces was killed in southern Afghanistan today during a military operation, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp reported.

She was the 16th Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan since Ottawa sent troops to the war-torn country in the wake of the September 11 suicide attacks. A Canadian diplomat was killed in a car bomb blast near Kandahar earlier this year.
