CPI(M) takes key portfolios in LDF Ministry

Thiruvananthapuram, May 18 (UNI) The CPI(M) has taken key portfolios like Home, Finance, Industries, Electricity, Health, Law and Local Self-Government in the 19-member Left Democratic Front (LDF) Ministry, headed by Mr V S Achuthanandan, which was sworn in in Kerala today.

As per the understanding reached between the LDF constituents, the CPI, the second biggest partner of the Front, had been allotted the portfolios of Revenue, Food and Civil Supplies, Forest and Housing and Agriculture.

Public Works has gone to the Kerala Congress (J), Water Resources to the RSP and Transport to the Janata Dal (S).

An official notification allocating the portfolios is expected later in the evening.
