Congress seeks CBI inquiry in former J

Ahmedabad, May 18 (UNI) Senior Gujarat Congress leaders, Hasmukh Patel and Arvind Sanghvi, today demanded a CBI inquiry into former Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Minister Abdul Amiz Zargar's alleged involvement in the terrorist attack on Swaminarayan Temple in Gandhinagar on September 24, 2002.

In a joint statment, they said, fresh allegations have been levelled against the former Minister by some terrorists in their confession. In all, 32 people were killed in the terrorist attack.

It was alleged earlier too that former Agriculture Minister in the PDP Government had sheltered the terrorists at his Mazgam village in south Kashmir, following which he had offered to resign but was asked by the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayyed to continue.

Mr Patel and Mr Sanghvi said that a similar demand for CBI inquiry has also come from J&K Pradesh Congress general secretary Majeed Padar.
