New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) BJP members in Delhi Assembly today alleged they were being targetted by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in its on-going demolition drive against unauthorised constructions across the city.

Properties of BJP MLAs were being systematically targetted...

Yesterday it was Deputy Leader of Opposition of the House Sahib Singh Chauhan and today it was Jai Bhagwan Agarwal, Leader of Opposition Jagdish Mukhi stated.

The opposition MLAs raised protest slogans and trooped into the well of the House demanding immediate intervention by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

On been asked by Speaker Prem Singh, she said though it was a court-ordered drive, she would look into the matter and do whatever was possible after the special one-day session of the Assembly got over today.

BJP members had raised the issue during deliberations to pass a bill to exempt certain posts from the definition of office-of-profit and save several Congress MLAs from disqualification, that could have the government in a tight corner.

BJP strongly opposed the bill saying it was unconstitutional and against propriety.

The party demanded that the special session should have been called to discuss the water and power problems, sealing and demolition being carried out by the Municipal Corpration of Delhi rather than been called to save the Congress MLAs who were occupying office-of-profit that was against the law of the land.
