600 medical students take out anti-reservation rally

Kolhapur, May 18 (UNI) At least 600 medical students from Kolhapur and Miraj colleges today marched to the District Collectorate here as a part of the ongoing nationwide anti-reservation agitation.

The students gathered in front of the civil hospital here and marched to the Collector's office, shouting slogans in support of their demands and anti-reservation.

At the Collectorate, a students delegation met resident District Collector Milind Pathak and submitted a memorandum.

Meanwhile, the pro-reservationists, led by Republican Party of India (Athawale group), staged a demonstration at city's Dasara chowk in support of the quota. A group of about 30-40 activists marched to the civil hospital and shouted slogans against civil surgeons and held demonstrations.

All of them were later released, police said.
