4-laning of Srinagar-Lakhanpur national highway in full swing
Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) The four-laning of national highway from Lakhanpur to Srinagar is in full swing and to ensure the expeditious shifting of utilities high-level committees will be constituted to act as a single window for processing the cases.
An official spokesman said today that two divisional level committees would be constituted to act as single window for processing the cases more expeditiously.
The committees would be headed by the Divisional Commissioners concerned and the heads of the departments would be the members.
A high-level meeting was held recently under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak.
The meeting was told that the officials from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) would regularly meet the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests to sort out the matter.
The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir has already constituted a committee for expeditious acquisition of land for different roads being improved and upgraded under the Prime Minister's reconstruction package for the state.
The committee would meet regularly to expedite land acquisition cases besides cases regarding the forest clearance, the spokesman said.
The meeting also decided to immediately hand over to the BRO the work on four-laning of Srinagar-Baramulla national highway at several stretches.
At the meeting, the Minister called upon the officials of the BRO's Project SAMPARK to accelerate the work on double-lanning of the road from Domail to Katra so that the traffic movement on the sector becomes ''smooth and quick'' and the pilgrims to Vaishno Devi shrine do not feel any inconvenience.
