Watchdog to prevent misuse of coal: Soren
New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Coal India Limited (CIL) has put in place a 'watchdog mechanism' to prevent irregularities in the sale of coal by the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF), Coal Minister Shibu Soren informed the Lok Sabha today.
''This arrangement has been made to enable tiny consumers to access coal,'' Mr Soren said during Question Hour.
It was part of the suggestions made by the Chief Vigilance Officer, CIL to improve the distribution network of NCCF following complaints of irregularities in the sale of coal.
NCCF, which is supplied coal 20 per cent above the floor price, has been directed to distribute coal to small and tiny consumers at a price not in excess of 105 per cent of the base price charged by the coal companies. Transportation charges and duties will be extra, the Minister said.
