Stolen Maruti car sends J
Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police and the security forces went into a tizzy today following a report of a stolen Maruti car even as the authorities finalise the arrangements for the second round-table conference, called by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, here on May 24-25, sources said.
They said a metallic grey Maruti car, bearing registration number JK01J-2932, was stolen from Balgarden area here at 1630 hrs.
The owner of the car, Latief Ahmed Wani, immediately reported the matter to the police, the sources said.
Police have registered a case and launched a massive hunt to trace the stolen car, they added.
Security has been stepped up in the entire Kashmir valley a few days ahead of the second round-table.
Militants have used stolen vehicles, particularly Maruti cars, in in the past in carrying out car bomb explosions acoss Kashmir.
