Six people killed, many injured in road accident

Coimbatore, May 16 : Six people were killed on the spot and seven others were seriously injured when a mini tempo in which they were travelling was hit by a lorry at Perumanallur near Tirupur in this district tonight.

Police said a gas tanker was on its way to Erode and a mini tempo loaded with some people followed. The gas tanker was stopped suddenly and the mini tempo also stopped accordingly. But a lorry which was behind could not stop on time and hit the mini tempo.

The injured were admitted in a hospital at Tirupur, police added.
