New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) PMK supremo Dr S Ramadoss has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to go for an ordinance to immediately provide for OBC quota in premier higher educational institutions such as IIMs and IITs from the 2006-07 academic year.

Dr Ramadoss told reporters today that he, alongwith his party MPs, called on the two leaders yesterday, seeking that the government come out with its reservation policy early without waiting for enactment of a suitable law in Parliament.

The PMK leaders also met HRD Minister Arjun Singh, Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, besides former Prime Minister V P Singh on the issue, he said.

There was a positive response from Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi, but they were non-committal on the demand for an ordinance, he said.
