Perjury matter against Zahira, others adjourned till Friday

Mumbai, May 17 (UNI) A special court here today adjourned till May 19 the trial against Zahira, her brother Nassibullah and sister Saherabanu for giving false evidence during re-trial of Best Bakery case here as they have challenged verdict of this court in the Bombay High Court.

Special court judge Abhay Thipsay had issued perjury notices under Section 344 of CrPC to Zahira and her family members for giving false evidence during the re-trial.

Advocate Umesh Deshpande, representing Zahira and her family members in the perjury case, today moved an application saying the court had erred in observing that his clients had given false evidence.

Later, speaking to reporters, Mr Deshpande said the court has made several adverse remarks against his clients and the same has been challenged in the High Court.
