Lanka invites CIAL to invest in new airport
Kochi, May 17 (UNI) The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), operating the first airport in India with private sector participation, has been invited by Sri Lanka to invest in a new airport being developed near its capital Colombo.
Disclosing this at a press conference here today, CIAL Managing Director V J Kurien said CIAL, operating the Nedumbassery International Airport, near here, is being seen as a role model not only in India but outside the country as well.
The Sri Lankan Government had invited CIAL for talks last week on investing and providing consultancy for a new airport.
Mr Kurien, who is demitting office as the CIAL managing director following his appointment as the chairman of Spices Board, said it was for the CIAL board to take a decision on the matter.
