ISB ups 2007 class size by 20% to 418 students
New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Indian School of Business (ISB) today said it has increased its student intake for the current class of 2007 by 20 per cent to 418 students, from the 345 students that were admitted to the Class of 2006.
With this increase in the number of students, ISB will now be counted as among the largest top B-Schools worldwide.
''We have taken 53 per cent of the students from our new class having secured GMAT scores of over 700. The average GMAT score has increased to 706 from 694 last year, which is now at par with GMAT scores in the world's top B-Schools, and is a matter of great pride for the country,''ISB Dean Rammohan Rao said in a statement issued here.
As part of its efforts to encourage meritorious students, ISB has offered scholar-ships worth Rs 1.67 crore at the time of admission to nearly 20 per cent of the class, which will be awarded by companies like Citigroup, Novartis, Anand Group and KC Maritime.
The school has also reported a significant increase in the number of its women students, which has gone up to 87 from 67 last year. ''This number represents 20 per cent of the Class of 2007,'' Mr Rao said.
The Class of 2007 has an average work experience of 5 years in technology, pharma, media, finance, marketing, consulting, etc, while the average age of the class is 27 years.
ISB is a research-oriented management institution, and is associated with the Kellogg School of Management, the Wharton School and the London Business School.
