Get Jessica Lall murder accused extradicted: HC

New Delhi, May 17: The Delhi High Court directed Delhi Police today to explore the possibility of extraditing Vikas Gill, a proclaimed offender in the Jessica Lall murder case.

Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice J M Malik asked the Delhi Police counsel Mukta Gupta to get Gill extradited from US because declaring him a proclaimed offender would not serve the purpose.

"Do you think he is going to come back to India if you declare him a proclaimed offender? The only thing you can do is to attach his property. Do you think he will rush back to India?" the bench observed.

It also issued notices to Chandigarh-based doctor J S Bedi for allegedly giving false medical certificate to Gill.

Notices were also issued to Harbans Singh Talwar and Harvinder Singh Talwar, both surety-holders of Vikas Gill, to appear before the court on May 31 along with J S Bedi.

Vikas Gill, accused of harbouring prime accused Manu Sharma, fled to US in October 2004 and has since been at large, police claimed.
