Delhi to have world class sports academy: Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today instructed Directorate of Education to expedite setting up of a world class sports Academy for which a plot of 90 acres has already been earmarked.

Ms Dikshit asked senior officials of the Sports Department to invite global consultancy for setting up the academy on the lines of the Haryana Sports School at Rai with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Ms Dikshit, while chairing a meeting on formulation of new Sports Policy of the state government, also directed the officials to initiate search of sports talent by organising tournaments at district and zonal levels.

The Department has also been instructed to provide the requisite nutritional food to the selected students to help them earn recognition at the national and international levels.
