Christian Council condemns distortion of facts
Hyderabad, May 17: The Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches today condemned Dan Brown's book and film 'Da Vinci Code' for alleged distortion of certain facts of the New Testament concerning Jesus Christ.
In a press note, the council said while Dan Brown and Ran Howard admitted that the work was fiction, it questioned why the real name of Jesus was used, if not to deliberately hurt the feelings of Christians.
While expressing opinions, the freedom of expression should not mean distortion of facts to demean a particular faith, the Council said and appealed to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to prevent the screening of Da Vinci Code, which hurt the sentiments of believers.
