Bihar did not get its due support:state government
Patna, May 17 (UNI) The Bihar government has claimed that the state did not get due support and investment from the centre in the power sector.
In an overview report of the state energy department made available to UNI, it was noted that the state govenment had to take some of the blame for the present power scenario upon itself, the fact, however, remained that Bihar also did not get its due support from the Centre.
''Some of its schemes, though very important from the perception of the state, had not received the consideration they merited for various reasons'', the report added, stating that as a result there had been no capacity addition in thermal power sector in the state during the last 25 years.
Bihar was allocated 1119 MW power from central sector units. The Farakka thermal power station contributed largest share (362.88 MW) followed by Kahalgao thermal power station (330.96 MW), Talcher thermal power station (325 MW), Chukka hyder power station (80 MW-seasonal) and Rangit hydel power station (21 MW-seasonal).
After taking into account, plant load factor, auxillary consumption and transmission loss, actual availability to Bihar was normally between 900-950 MW, when all the units of the plants were running.
The report observed that the state was totally dependent, at present, on the above external sources. Very frequently, one or more of these units shut down for planned maintenance or break down in resulting proportionate reduction of power supply to the state.
