Bar Council condemns police atrocity on medicos

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Delhi Bar Council today strongly condemned the use of brutal force by police on the medical fraternity for holding a peaceful demonstration in Mumbai against Centre's proposed quota for OBCs in elite educational institutions.

According to a press release, the Bar Council will convene a meeting on Monday to appeal to President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately hold parleys with the agitating doctors.

They also demanded a judicial inquiry into use of excess force by police against doctors. ''The intended purpose of the inquiry should be to institute punitive measures to prove as deterrent against such recurrences, the release said.
