9.2 million Indians to seek jobs online by 2006/07: Survey

Bangalore, May 17 (UNI) A record 6.5 million Indians have sought jobs through oneline in 2005-06, registering a 71 per cent increase over 2004-05.

According to a survey conducted by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) the number of online job seekers was expected to cross 9.2 million in 2006-07 with the estimated market size of the Indian online recruitment industry likely to touch Rs 241 crore from Rs 145 crore in 2005-06.

The industry was also likely to maintain a year-on-year growth of over 60 per cent.

Junior, mid-level and senior executives accounted for more than 50 per cent of online job seekers. Keeping in tune with the internet usage Maharashtra (26 per cent) topped the list of online job seekers. It was closely followed by Delhi (17 per cent), Tamil Nadu (13), Karnataka (eight) and West Bengal (six).
