Snow at Rohtang Pass, rain in Mandi, Shimla, Kangra districts of HP

Shimla, May 16 (UNI) Rain and hailstorm lashed various parts of Himachal Pradesh today, cooling the lower parts of the state where temperatures were soaring for the last few days, while mild intermittent snowfall was reported from 13050-foot Rohtang Pass.

Reports of hailstorm were also received from the tourist resort of Narkanda and its adjoining areas and Kufri in Shimla district, Mandi and Kangra districts of the state, while Pangi and Bharmaur areas of Chamba district and Kullu district received light showers.

Shimla and its adjoining areas were lashed by heavy rain and hailstorm followed by strong velocity winds, plummeting day temperatures with the state capital recording 14.2 degrees against yesterday's 24.6 degrees.

The famous Mall and the Ridge in the state capital wore a deserted look after experiencing heavy rain, forcing people and tourists to stay indoors.

Tourist resorts of Narkanda and Kufri areas in Shimla district witnessed by heavy hailstorm much to the disappointment of the tourists who were enjoying the pleasant weather.

The Rampur area of Shimla district was also hit by a storm followed by moderate rain, causing damage to the apples and stone fruit crops.
