Premachandran resigns RS seat to become minister in Kerala
New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Mr N K Premachandran , who was recently elected to the Kerala assembly, today resigned his membership in the Rajya Sabha, 45 days ahead of the expiry of his current term in the Upper House to become a minister in the new Marxist-led government in Kerala.
Mr Premachandran, a leader of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), personally submitted his letter of resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman Bairon Singh Shekhawat this afternoon.
The RSP has already announced its decision to nominate him as its lone representative in the new LDF government being sworn in on May 18.
Mr Premachandran's six year tenure in Rajya Sabha expires on June 30 this year.
He was a member of Lok Sabha twice representing Kollam in Kerala.
