Lt Gen JK Mohanty new Colonel of Dogra Regiment
New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Lieutenant General J K Mohanty today took over as Colonel of the Dogra Regiment and Dogra Scouts--the former replete with a brilliant 120-year history of valour.
Lt Gen Mohanty, presently commanding a Corps in the Northern Sector, is a distinguished Infantry officer with a rich and varied career profile.
A product of Sainik School Bhubaneswar, Lt Gen Mohanty was commissioned into the elite 15 Dogra in June 1969. Blooded in operations in the Western Sector during the 1971 war, Lt Gen Mohanty has served in all Army sectors at all levels with distinction, according to an official spokesman.
Lt Gen Mohanty has also held a wide array of Regimental and Staff appointments including tenures as Instructor in Bhutan, Operations Officer of formations in the East and North, command of a Division in a highly intense Counter-Insurgency/Counter-Terrorism environment before assuming his present appointment on October 28 last year.
For his outstanding services, he was awarded the Sena Medal in 1993, Vishisht Seva Medal in 2003 and the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal in 2004.
