'International airport to come up near Ludhiana'

New Delhi, May 16: The government is considering a proposal to construct an international airport at Halwara near Ludhiana in Punjab, minister for civil aviation Praful Patel said today.

The defence ministry has already given clearance to the proposal, he told the Rajya Sabha.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will soon depute a team of officials to survey the site, said Mr Patel.
