Indonesian company to set up food production units in Bengal
Kolkata, May 16 (UNI) Indo Food, an arm of the Indonesian Salem group, today proposed to West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee setting up of a food park and several food processing units in the state.
Indo Food vice-president Kevin Sietho told reporters after meeting the Chief Minister at the Writers' Buildings that he had already visited two plots in Howrah for setting up the proposed units.
" We have decided to set up few food processing units and develop a food park in West Bengal. The Chief Minister has assured us of all assistance, " Mr Sietho said.
However, the company was yet to decide on the line of products and the total investment, and it would proceed further after working on a feasibility study, he said.
Having an annual turnover of two million dollars, Indo Food has a wide ranging line of food products, including packed food, noodles, baby food, cooking oil, dairy products, tomato ketchup, biscuits and sauce.
The company has operations largely in the Middle-East and African countries.
