Dacoits loot Rs one lakh in Akola, injure teenaged boy

Akola, May 16 (UNI) A teenaged boy was injured by the dacoits in a melee that took place after they looted another place early this morning at Malegaon taluka in Akola district, 60 km from here.

A gang of dacoits entered the house of one Premratan Hiralal Bhutda and threatened the occupants with knife. They broke the cupboard's locker and looted cash, gold and silver ornaments including rings and bangles, costing Rs one lakh, police said here today.

Before escaping with the booty, they struck another house. But cries from locals took them by surprise. In an attempt to retaliate, the dacoits opened fire from a country-made pistol (katta) injuring 14-year-old boy Arvind A Jadhav.

The teenaged boy recived bullet shots in his waist and has been hospitalised where he is undergoing treatment.

An offence of dacoity has been registered and invesigations are on.
