Cong supports move to exempt NAC from OoP
New Delhi, May 16: The Congress today reiterated that the post of Chairperson of National Advisory Council (NAC), held by United Progressive Allaince (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi until she quit the post, was not an Office of Profit, but backed the Government move to exempt the post from the purview of the 1959 law.
The Government, perhaps, thought that let there be no further discussion on the NAC chairmanship being the Office of Profit, Ms Natrajan said.
Referring to the criticism voiced by Opposition Leader L.K. Advani regarding NAC, she said the BJP had exposed its lack of moral ground and were indulging in"double speak"as was clear in the problems the party faced on this account in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
