19 children hospitalised in Kashmir for food poisoning
Srinagar, May 16 (UNI) As many as 19 children were admitted to hospital here following complaints of severe stomach pain soon after they had lunch today, sources said.
They said the children, lodged at Dar-ul-Uloom Islamia, Nowshehra, (madrassa) had attended a dinner party in a nearby household.
The sources said the children had lunch at the madrassa and soon after complained of severe stomach pain and vomiting.
They were immediately rushed to nearby Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura where the doctors said they had fallen ill due to food poisoning.
All the 19 children have been declared out of danger, but would continue to be under strict observation of the doctors, the sources said. The children are from various parts of the Valley.
Police have registered a case and started investigations.
