Sonia takes oath in Hindi as Lok Sabha member
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who won the Rae Bareli byelections with a record margin recently, took oath as a member of the Lok Sabha today, watched by her daughter Priyanka Gandhi from the visitors' gallery.
The Congress President was greeted with thumping of desks from the treasury benches, which included her son and incharge of her election campaign Rahul Gandhi, as she took the oath in Hindi.
Also cheering her were Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra, at the vistors' gallery, Congress members of the Upper House in the Rajya Sabha gallery, Ms Margraet Alva and other party leaders in the Speaker's gallery.
Ms Gandhi, who had resigned from the Lok Sabha on the office-of-profit issue, returned to the Lower House, winning the bypolls with a margin of 418,000 votes.
