Rang De Basanti powers anti-reservationists in BHU
Varanasi, May 15 (UNI) While the young protagonists in Rakesh Mehra's hit Range De Basanti may have died an 'undeserving death', they have inspired catchy slogans for medicos in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) agitating over the OBC reservation issue.
The protest march taken out by the medicos and other BHU students to the Sankatmochan temple this morning, was conspicuous with participants raising catachy of slogans, one of which owed its roots to the hit number 'Rubaroo-Roshani' from the Aamir Khan and Soha Ali Khan starrer.
''Abi abhi hua yakin mujh mein hai aag lagin,'' shouted one the apron clad junior doctors amid the meeting where his seniors were speaking.
''Itne bazoo itne sir, gin le dushman dhyan se'' the number from Main Azad Hoon, one of the not too successful Big B movies, became the anthem for anti-reservation movement nationwide in 1990. May be the same vigour and ferocity can be infused by the Rang De Basanti number, in this movement being tipped as Mandal II, the sequel to Mandal I, said Ratnakar Tripathi, ex student leader of BHU, who had formed the Sawarna Mukti Morcha during the 1990 movement.
The slogans were not the only aspect that caught the attention of the devotees leaving and entering the Sankatmochan temple, as the placards held by the young medicos also caught the media lens.
''Reservation an end to quality education, Arjun your thinking is a problem for us, Dont sink India, Poorna Swaraj'' were some of the many slogans raised by the vociforous agitationers.
