Pak is alive to its security concerns: Foreign Ministry

Islamabad, May 15 (UNI) Pakistan today said it is fully alive to its security concerns and ready to meet its defence requirements following reports that India was poised to test-fire long range Agni-III missile.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam told newspersons here that Pakistan cannot ignore its security needs and is exercising restraint as it does not want nuclear or conventional arms race in the region.

Commenting on Defence Minister Pranab Mukerjee's statement that India has no plans to withdraw from Siachin, the spokesperson said Pakistan expects a forward movement on talks.

''Pakistan is more interested in what is happening in talks than the internal debate going on in that country,'' she said.

About Indian plans to hold a Round Table Conference in Srinagar, she said it would be important to see whether Kashmiris participate in it and what expectations they have from such a moot.

On Baglihar dam, the spokesperson said the matter is with the neutral expert and the two sides are expected to meet him by the end of this month or early next month.
