Office of Profit Bill to be tabled tomorrow
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) As many as 46 posts,including the National Advisory Council, are proposed to be exempted from the purview of the Office of Profit in an amendment Bill to be introducd in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.
Other posts being sought to be exempted from the purview of the Oiffice of Profit, through the Bill, include the Sriniketan Shantiniketan Development Authority headed by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Uttar Pradesh Development Council, headed by Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh.
The Bill, The Parliament (Prevention of Disquallification) Amendment Bill 2006, seeking to amend the Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Act 1959, has been circulated among the Members of Parliament.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters here that the Bill will be discussed and passed in the Lok Sabha tomorrow while the Rajya Sabha will discuss the Bill day after tomorrow.
He said the Government was seeking unanimity among the members on the Bill. He hoped the Bill will be passed by a substantial, if not an overwhelming, majority.
The Government, he said, would accommodate the views of the members regarding more posts to be exempted from the Office of Profit.
