Jaipur MP calls for Pink City airport to be renamed
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Praising the Centre for taking up the expansion programme of Jaipur airport, city MP Girdhari Lal Bhargava (BJP) requested them to look into the various plight of the people staying in its vicinity.
Raising the issue in Zero Hour, he further requested the government to name it ''Maharaja Mansingh Airport'' -- after a great son of Raajasthan.
Mr Bhargava expressed serious concern about acquisition of more land for the project as it would adversely affect the already settled 24 legalised colonies around it.
''Jaipur airport is one of those previleged airports in the country which has got a huge amount of land and they should not require any more land for their expansion for making it an international standard airport,'' he said.
Fresh aquisition of land on that particular side would virtually led to the eviction of those people who were settled in those twenty four colonies, despite having all the necessary permissions with them,'' Mr Bhargava noted.
