Dhoni hopes to continue tormenting bowlers

Montego Bay, May 15 (UNI) It will not sound music to the ears of the West Indian bowlers but buccaneering Indian stumper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his intentions to continue the form which saw him tormenting bowlers over the last six months.

On his maiden Caribbean tour here, Dhoni was confidence personified as he talked about the need to win the warm-up match against Jamaica here tomorrow.

''I've been doing well in the last six months, whatever I played in - Test match or one-day cricket, so I will just like to continue with that form which I'm in and hopefully try to do what I can do for my team,'' Dhoni was quoted as saying by the ''Jamaican Observer''.

Dhoni said winning the warm-up match would give the side the right kind of impetus for Thursday's and Saturday's opening ODI matches against the West Indies.

Dhoni also felt that though India has not been able to win a Test series here for more than three decades, RahulDravid's men are here to ensure history doesn't repeat itself.

''I think we are doing well and we are in good nick...so hopefully this is the time when we can change it over and we can change a record,'' said the maned stumper, who had a haircut before the series.

Team India coach Greg Chappell, on the other hand, stressed on adopting to the conditions here.

''We obviously just need to get used to the conditions, and start playing some good cricket,'' Chappell said after the team's first training session at Chedwin Park in St Catherine.

Team India members practised at the Jarrett Park here ahead of their match against a strong Wavell Hinds-led Jamaican team, which includes as many as eight Test players.

Chappell, however, feels that he was in chargew of a side that has the perfect blend of youth and experience.

''We got some good young boys, we got some good senior players as well. I think we've got a good balance between youth and experience and quite a bit of talent throughout the squad.'' Under him, Team India has won 16 ODIs in a row but Chappell refused to bask in glory and warned against complacence.

''We would never under-rate a West Indian team anytime, anywhere, but particularly at home,'' said the no-nonsense Australian.
