West Indies tour will not to be easy: Durrani

Written by: Staff

Thiruvananthapuram, May 13 (UNI) The up coming ODI and Test match series against West Indies will not be easy for India and for Dravid's men the winning chances would be only 40 to 60 per cent, former all rounder Salim Durrani said today.

Mr Durrani, who was one of the architects of India's victory over the West Indies in the 1971 series there, claiming two key wickets, told reporters here that the winning chance would depend on the picth.

Normally pitches in West Indies are bouncy favouring the medium pacers.

Mr Durrani, who also bowled India to victory over England in the 1961-62 series picking up eight and ten wickets at Kolkata and Chennai, respectively said the ODIs and Test Matches were quite different. ''In ODIs the bowlers must try to get more wickets concedingless runs and the batting side has to concentrate on posting a difficult target. In Test matches there is enough time to play'', he averred.

Though India has good, young, talented and enthusiastic players, it lacked a good all rounder, he pointed out.

Complementing Youvaraj Singh and Rana as good players, he said ''they have to realise the situation of the ground while playing.'' Mr Durrani, who is here in connection with the Sports Jouralists Federation of India (SJFI) national convention, said upcoming player Sreesanth was a natural fast bowler and had good line and length.
