Two women arrested for allegedly abducting a minor girl

Kangra, May 13 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Police have arrested two women for allegedly abducting a minor girl and forcibly trying to marry her off to their divorced brother in Kangra district, police today said.

Chand Kaur and her sister Nirmala abducted a 16-year girl Reenu after she turned down their offer to get married to 35-year old divorced Om Prakash.

Police said the sisters, Reenu and her parents were known to each other since they were working together in a brick kiln.

On May 11, the sisters forcibly took her to Pathankot from where they were planning to take her to Amritsar where they would have married the girl to their brother.

However, they returned to Kangra after police arrested two male members of their family, who them asked the women to return with the abducted girl, police said.

The sisters have been arrested under section 366 of the IPC and investigations were on, police added.
